Can I know God’s will? Do I have a purpose in life? Is it possible to change my circumstances? What could keep me from prospering?
The Bible has an answer to these questions. Let’s take a look…
God’s Will Can Be Known
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who freely gives to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
– James 1:5
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things you do not know.”
– Jeremiah 33:3
“…do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
– Ephesians 5:17b
It’s not a question of can you know God’s will, but one of are you willing to do God’s will. Those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled (Matt. 5:6).
There is a Purpose for Your Life
“’For I know the thoughts I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.’”
– Jeremiah 29:11
Some have argued that because this was written to Jeremiah, it doesn’t have application to us.
Why shouldn’t we believe God feels the same about us?
If we are faithful to seek God first and do as He commands, shouldn’t we believe He will have good thoughts toward us and plans to prosper us?
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does will prosper.”
– Psalms 1:1-3
God’s Will Becomes Clearer as We Move Closer to Him
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you…”
– James 4:8a
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
– Matthew 7:7-8
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eye, but fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”
– Proverbs 3:5-7
To receive the best in life, you must allow God to lead you there. But be prepared to face some challenges. The journey will require you to leave some things behind, and you may even have to separate yourself from certain people along the way.
But it will be for your own good to let go and let God. Don’t fret over what you may have to give up, but faithful through it all. God will not disappoint you.
Believe in the Power of God to Change Your Life
“Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth, and teach me. For You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all day long.”
– Psalms 25:4-5
“For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.”
– Psalms 48:14
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
– Philippians 4:13
Seek God with all your heart, making yourself fully available to Him day by day. God will not ignore one who is sincere in desiring to do His will.
God will tell you what you need to know, and give you strength to make it known.
Let your prayer to God be: Lord, I want to know you more. Show me the way, and remove anything from my life that would keep me from drawing close to you. Amen.
