With All Your Might

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” – Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV

People often try to look for easier ways to do things so that they may save time and money. There’s nothing wrong with this, of course. But a lot of people try to cut corners in everything that they do, simply because they don’t want to work hard for what they desire to gain out of life. As a result of this, they fail and people get hurt in the process. But that’s not the only downside. For in trying to take an easy way out in everything, they often miss out on great opportunities for fear of having to work too hard for success. In other words, when they perceive something as being too hard to accomplish, they don’t even try to do it. Indeed, it’s better to work hard and reap a lasting reward for your labor than it is to throw away an opportunity for success for fear of having to sweat a little in order to achieve its end.

But there’s something else that I would like to bring to your attention here. No matter what your occupation is, if it is one that you are honoring God in, then you hold the highest position that you can possibly have at this time. For there is no higher position in life than to be a servant of Jesus Christ! Therefore no matter how high or low your place may be in life, as long as you are serving the Lord you are where you need to be. And there is no better place to be than in the arms of Jesus Christ, serving Him faithfully, day by day.

Listen, those who are worldly-minded will try to deceive you into believing that your place is out of place because it doesn’t rise to the level of their expectations. Keep in mind, however, that Jesus said that we should store treasure up in heaven, not on earth. And He said this for good reason too, because one day the world and all that belongs to it will burn up. So, don’t let others cause you to feel bad about your work. If you are serving God then there is no reason to feel bad about it. For no worldly-minded endeavor will ever measure up to the work that is done in the name of Jesus Christ, and no prideful person will ever accomplish more than one who serves the LORD in humility of spirit.
