In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:1-3 KJV)
Indeed, the Word was in “the beginning,” but the Word is also with us today. Of course, the Word is none other but Jesus: “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14b). He’s not only the Word that was, but the Word who is, and will always be. Hence, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NASB).
Jesus can pick you up out of the pit of despair and put you on solid ground. He can restore your fractured life and renew your broken heart. He is the light shining in the darkness, which no man can put out (see John 1:15). He is the Blessed Hope: the One who is able “to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by Him” (Hebrews 7:25a MKJV). Do you know Him? If not, what is so dear to your heart that you would let it become a wedge between you and Jesus?
Whatever is keeping you from fully embracing the life Jesus wants to give you won’t withstand the test of time; it will fade away. But His love will remain. Nothing can stop Him from being who He is. Cast your cares on Jesus and see that He is good. He will carry your burdens if you ask Him to. He says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 NASB). Will you go to Jesus and receive the rest He desires to give you?
