How shall we be a light to others? Like a gardener who tills the ground, we must connect with people in a personal way. We shouldn’t worry about getting dirty by being with them, nor complain about how hard it is to work for their benefit. Our thoughts are with God, and we know something good is happening.

Once we’ve made that connection with people in this way, we must proceed to plant seeds of truth in their hearts by sharing the gospel with them. Of course, it’s not wise to pile these truths up in one place, heaping too much on them at once; rather, it’s best to employ prudence in spreading them out, so that they may grow without restraint.

Then, like watering soil, we must show love and affection for them. That means we won’t abandon them to the elements, but will stick around to watch God give them life and make something beautiful out of them. At the same time, God will make something beautiful out of us. Thus, we will grow together in love, and be the body of Christ. Are you doing your part to be a light to others?
