Many have been led to believe that the Sabbath is no longer binding to Christians; that is, they have been told by ministers that Christians don’t have to keep the fourth commandment anymore, which says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” (Exodus 20:8)
Should we believe what these people are saying just because they are ministers? Shouldn’t we investigate their truth claims more thoroughly, that we may see for ourselves whether they are speaking the truth or telling lies? I think it would be wise for us to do that! For the Bible makes it very clear that not all who say they are believers are doing the will of God (Matthew 7:21-23). And if we are following people who aren’t doing the will of God then what does that say about us?
I realize that this is a sensitive topic for many, but I feel that we should be mature in our investigation of truth claims, allowing our faith to be questioned and responding rationally to things that do not agree with what we’ve always been taught. After all, how could we ever grow into the person that Jesus wants us to become if we put up walls around us, shutting people out of our lives whom God wants to use as a means to enlighten our understanding? There is no honor in being prideful, but there is wisdom in humility.
Therefore please take what I’m about to share with you seriously. Examine it very closely. For not only does it make sense, it is biblical and therefore constitutes inspired truth. If you should see something that you find hard to accept then I encourage you to ask questions and/or submit objections. There have been many cases where people have rejected the truth because they made assumptions without asking questions for clarity. Don’t let that happen here. This is a very important message that must be embraced by all.
