It Shall Prosper

And he will be like a tree planted by a river, which produces its fruit in season, and whose leaf does not wither; and whatever he does will prosper. (Psalm 1:3)

Don’t waste time coveting things that are destined to burn; embrace God’s blessing instead. Whatever belongs to the world will perish with the world, that is, the world, as we know it in its sinful condition. Nevertheless, whatever belongs to Christ will remain with Him forever.

There should be no confusion about what the Psalmist meant by saying, “whatever he does will prosper.” For the righteous can do nothing but prosper while walking with God, because godly prosperity doesn’t manifest itself in worldly things; rather, it shows itself in virtue. Thus, the prosperity of the righteous is revealed in attributes such as love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, humility, and temperance (see Galatians 5:22-23).

The kingdoms that the wicked have built, out of selfish ambition, will surely come down; they will become like the chaff, which the wind drives away. However, nothing is wasted in Christ. No wind of opposition will ever be strong enough to force God’s servants away from His blessing.

You might think that you’ve accomplished little with your life, but if you are truly walking with Jesus, then you have gained the best that life has to offer. You have nothing to be ashamed of in that.

What you choose to do with your life now, will pave the way for what will become of your future. Be wise and choose the right path; reject the way of the wicked. For the way of the wicked ends in destruction, but the path of the righteous leads to eternal life.
