The Fruit of Prosperity

“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” – Psalms 1:3 KJV

It makes no sense to covet things that are destined to burn; yet it makes perfect sense to embrace the blessings of God. For whatever belongs to the world will perish with the world; that is, the world as we know it to be. But whatever belongs to Jesus Christ will remain with Him forever. Therefore we shouldn’t be confused about the idea of prospering in all that we do when it comes to walking with God. For the righteous can do nothing but prosper while serving Him, as godly prosperity doesn’t manifest itself in worldly prowess, but in works that are pleasing to God. Thus, the prosperity of the righteous is revealed by love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23). Such characteristics mark the presence of greatness, and testify that the one within whom they are present lacks nothing that is of true value.

Therefore don’t covet the way of the wicked. The kingdoms that they’ve built for selfish ambition will surely collapse on their heads in due time. They will become exactly what their works are worth; chaff which the wind drives away! Yet no time could ever be wasted in serving Jesus Christ. No wind of opposition will ever drive His servants away from His blessing. You might feel that you’ve accomplished little with your life. But if you’re truly walking with Jesus then much has been accomplished in and through you by Him; and there is therefore nothing to be ashamed of in that.

Remember, what you choose to do with your life now will pave the way for what will become of your future. Therefore be wise to choose the right path, rejecting the way of the wicked. For the way of the wicked ends in destruction, but the path of the righteous leads to eternal life in Christ.
