Highways of Excellence in Christ

The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway. (Proverbs 15:19 NKJV)

Have you ever played ‘the blame game’ before? Its objective is to find more excuses to blame others for our problems than we can find reasons to take responsibility to stop feeding them.

In other words, when people should take action to make changes where change is possible, they merely sit back and waste precious moments away complaining about what they think should be changed, while not even so much as lifting a finger to do anything about it.

Don’t get me wrong here; I’m not saying that it’s necessarily evil to vent. After all, before changes can be made where they’re necessary, complaints have to be made to open the eyes of others to give good reasons as to why changes should be made in the first place. Nevertheless, it should be understood that there is a time and a place to do this. And that time isn’t all the time of course, which means it isn’t appropriate to vent everywhere.

After all, to spend time blaming everyone else for the problems that exist within our lives, while taking no responsibility to put what’s needed into motion to bring about positive changes where we have the capacity to make a difference, is to talk about moving forward while remaining still, and to speak of recourse without following the right course of action. Moreover, it is to direct without having any sense of direction, and to ultimately remain where we don’t want to be and to take others down with us.

Therefore, rather than spending the bulk of our time attributing our problems to our environment and the people around us, it would be far better and more productive to show the world that we aren’t another example of the evil that we don’t want to see in it. Thus we will not only inspire and encourage others to excel in virtue, we will also leave a legacy of achievement behind us that will instill hope within others to succeed too, if we would but stop piercing people with endless complaints and start building a highway of excellence in the name of Jesus Christ.

Leave a comment; but please Praise God in it.
