Prosperity and the Scriptures

prosperity scripturesWhen it comes to the concept of prosperity many fall short in grasping what the Scriptures really have to say about it. They assume that prosperity is a sign of God’s blessing, and even go so far as to twist the Scriptures to make it look like God wants every Christian to be wealthy.

But what do you do when someone who professes to be a Christian is making a fortune while living in rebellion against God? According to the Bible God doesn’t bless the disobedient, but only those who listen to His voice. Therefore being rich doesn’t necessarily mean you are blessed. And what about people who have been subjected to a life of poverty, showing no signs of being prosperous in worldly affairs; are we to believe that they aren’t blessed simply because they are poor? What if they’re serving God faithfully; does their lack of wealth suggest that their hearts aren’t right with God? What does the Bible say?

Indeed, prosperity preachers have no choice but to face the problems that their shallow theology poses. They fall short in their understanding of what really constitutes prosperity according to the Scriptures, and should be rejected because they are preaching a false gospel.

So, what does the Bible have to say about this subject? What is biblical prosperity all about? Well, below you will find links to articles that I’ve written dealing with this subject. In these articles I show that biblical prosperity really isn’t about wealth building, but about holy living. In other words, prospering in the righteous works of God is what constitutes true prosperity according to the Scriptures.

Having said that, I hope that your time here will prove to be prosperous in that your life will be deeply enriched by these teachings. I also hope that you will share the lessons that you learn here with others, so that they too may see what the Scriptures really have to say about prosperity.
