No More Excuses

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever. Amen.” —Jude 1:24-25 NKJV

Somewhere in the MiddleM any people have been conditioned to exercise greater belief in failing than faith in a God who knows no failure. Truth is; we fall into sin because we allow lust for the flesh to take place of love for God.

Thus we give up the greater part of ourselves to the world while trying to hold onto God with what’s left, seeking to serve two masters when we should be giving everything that we’ve got to Jesus Christ.

To make matters worse, many try to justify sinning by assuming that it isn’t possible to live in obedience to God’s commands. In this way they inadvertently nullify God’s promise of being able to keep them from stumbling and thereby suggest that the flesh is stronger than the Spirit. Thus they blaspheme God.

Listen, I am by no means suggesting that I have arrived. Nevertheless, what I am saying is that we need to stop downplaying the power and authority of God over our lives and start believing that He can and will deliver us from temptation when we invite Him to take full control of our hearts. In other words, we need to stop making excuses for the sin that exists within our lives and start demonstrating what it really means to do what Jesus would do.

With that said, the next time the Tempter comes knocking on your door, why not fall to your knees in prayer and ask God to empower you with His Spirit; invite Him to work out His good will in and through you, not letting go of the moment until you know that you have His blessing.  I think that you might be surprised to see just how powerful God really is.  For where there’s a will, Jesus is The Way…

How apt. It is all about me. I keep sinning due to lust, especially food. If i want to fast the whole day i just can’t do it coz by afternoon i just crave for food. Sin lies at the door of my heart. What am I to do? I ask GOD, the LORD who made the heaven and the earth, to help me. Sometimes I feel so hopeless. GOD who made me loves me; He who helped me this far will help me even now. Do pray for me and my family. Thank you brother for this article, and God bless.

Shinie,

I think it is important to note that it is not a sin to eat; nor is it a sin not to fast. Of course, we should try to take good care of ourselves, but the Lord wants our hearts, not our sacrifices. In other words, He just simply wants us to love Him. And it appears to me that you do love God.

Our relationship with God is not about food, but about listening to and following His voice. While fasting is something that has its benefits, both physical and spiritual, it is not necessary for salvation. So, don’t be discouraged because you fail to fast. God loves you either way!

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13 NKJV)

Blessings to you…

Thank you, dear brother, for your kind words. I do believe that God loves each one of us and it is only because of HIS mercy that we are alive, but dear brother, I want to fast, but I cant. The other day I read in a magazine that when we fast heaven opens the door for us and God will do the impossible. In life there are so many hardships to cross, and of course I do believe that God does everything for the best. Thank you, brother. Praying for u and your family. God bless u.

Shinie,

I understand how you feel about this, but please keep in mind that whether we fast or not God can and will do the impossible within our lives as long as we continue to remain faithful to Him. Again, He wants our hearts more than our sacrifices; our love is more important to Him than our food.

Blessings to you…
