The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, And dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,” Says the LORD. (Isaiah 65:25 NKJV)
Some people refer to this verse as ‘The Lion and the Lamb Bible Verse’; but I like to think of it as the verse that discloses God’s ultimate objective for His people. You see, even though it speaks of animals living peacefully together, it’s really speaking of something more than that…it speaks of what God has planned for His people.
For, it tells us that God never created us to feed off of each other, but had always intended for us to feed together. In other words, it was never God’s purpose for us to wage war against each other; rather, He created us to multiply His blessing of love and thus live in peace with one another.
Unfortunately however, as a result of greed many have chosen to pursue a life of vanity, and have thereby crushed the hopes and dreams of many so that they could make themselves fat with worldly pleasures. Such people are more concerned about feeding themselves than they are concerned about sharing God’s blessing; and they have therefore cursed the land which God created to be inhabited by the blessing of His love.
But all of that is going to change! For those who have destroyed lives for personal gain will soon discover that like the serpent, their place will be with the dust, because they have used God’s resources for vain pursuits when they should have used them as a means to bless. Indeed, they will reap a harvest of grief and sorrow if they don’t repent.
Nevertheless, those who have remained faithful to God will reap the reward of living in a world where there will be no more pain or suffering; nor tears or loss of life; nor poverty or violence. For these things will pass away…they will not even be heard of again. Imagine that!
Moreover, there will be no more division; instead, all of God’s people will be united in Jesus Christ. We will see God and know that there never was a time when we weren’t loved; and we will praise His Holy name forever and ever without regret, because He is worthy to be praised. Hence, we will live together in perfect harmony!
Bible promises such as these are what we need to feed on more and more, because they give us hope and good reason to place our trust in God as He is planning to accomplish great things for our happiness.
With that being said, is there someone with whom you are angry? Have you caused unnecessary pain for anyone as a result of being selfish? Are you fostering hard feelings towards another person? Are you holding a grudge against someone, refusing to forgive when you know you ought to forget?
If so, think of this promise, and know that if it is God’s purpose for us to feed together and thus live at peace with one another for all eternity, then you shouldn’t let anything keep you from doing all that you ought to do now to fulfill your part in disclosing the fruit of this objective within your life today!
Why wait for peace when you can put personal wars to rest now through forgiveness? You may not influence everyone with whom you come into contact to embrace this message as there are many who are too blind to see its value; but that doesn’t mean you should give up on doing your part to be the blessing to them that God created you to be.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
