Lion and the Lamb

“The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.” – Isaiah 65:25 KJV

Indeed, this verse speaks of animals living peacefully together, but it also speaks of something else. It tells us that God never created us to feed off each other, but to feed together. In other words, it was never God’s purpose for us to wage war against each other, but to live in peace. Thus, we were created for His good pleasure, and are therefore meant to multiply His blessings beyond measure. Unfortunately, many have chosen to pursue a life of vanity, seeking to satisfy their own selfish desires, while neglecting to acknowledge and tend to the needs of others. Some have even crushed the hopes and dreams of many in order to make themselves fat with worldly pleasures. Such people are more concerned about feeding themselves than they are concerned about sharing God’s blessing. And thus they curse the land which God created to be a blessing to all His creation.

But all of that is going to change! For those who have destroyed lives for personal gain will, like the serpent, soon discover that their place will be with the dust. For they have used God’s resources for vain pursuits when they should have used them as a means to bless others. They will surely reap what they have sown if they don’t repent! Nevertheless, those who have remained faithful to God will be ushered into a world where there will be no more pain or suffering, nor tears or loss of life, nor poverty or violence. For these things will pass away…they will not be known again. Imagine that!

Having said that, is there someone with whom you are angry? Have you caused unnecessary pain for anyone as a result of being selfish? Are you fostering hard feelings toward another person, refusing to forgive when you know you ought to forget? Don’t hate. Instead, seek to do your part to do what the lion and the lamb are destined for; that is, to live at peace. In other words, why wait for peace when you can put personal wars to rest now through forgiveness? Be the blessing that God created you to be.
