Trust in Yahweh with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes, but fear Yahweh and depart from evil. (Proverbs 3:5-7)
Satan often tries to persuade people to believe that moral failure is a sign that Christianity is a religion that does not live up to its claims. Thus, he uses such argumentation to deter people from following Jesus. Yet, the problem has nothing to do with Christianity, but everything to do with people having a false conception of God’s grace, and lack of confidence in His power to save sinners from their sins.
If we would ask Jesus into our hearts, accepting the full measure of all that He has to offer, instead of attempting to serve Him in bits and pieces, only where it feels good to do so, we would see that He is all that He claims to be. There would be no room within our hearts to doubt God’s grace again, or the power He has to save us from our sins.
Many try to find solutions for their problems by looking within themselves, but this is a vain pursuit. We should seek answers in Christ. Who ever lived up to His reputation? The greatest minds combined are but a grain of sand in His presence. Indeed, there is no better life to study than His, and no better path to follow than the one which leads to His steps. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and is, therefore, the answer to all of our problems.
Those who blame God for their failures are just looking for an excuse to justify their sin of unbelief. Failure to live up to God’s expectations isn’t God’s failure, but the result of choosing to follow another voice. Don’t make the mistake of doing that; rather, follow God; and you will find all the strength you need to do God’s will and live satisfying life in Christ.
