In His Service

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15 KJV

“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.” – 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 KJV

Not all are called to preach the gospel, but all are called to the service of love. For we are commanded to walk even as Jesus walked (John 13:34, 14:15; 1John 2:6), and one cannot do that without loving as He loved. What this means is that we have to enter into the life that He has called us to live, leaving behind us all that would keep us from walking in complete obedience to His commandments. Of course, we need to keep something in mind here: Serving God isn’t about making sacrifices; it’s about experiencing His joy. Hence it is impossible to serve God begrudgingly.

Having said that, is there something in your life that’s keeping you from experiencing His Joy? Are you clinging to something that’s keeping you from being all that God has called you to become in Christ? If so, leave it behind. Taste and see that the Lord is good, by entering into His will for you. You won’t regret it if you do. Yet at some point you’ll surely wish that you had if you don’t. Remember, running away from conviction isn’t going to make God’s will go away. Therefore stand firm in the faith; do your part to enter into His service, and you will experience His joy.
