Music is a very powerful medium: it can be used for good or evil. A lot of people who call themselves Christian musicians are guilty of using God words in ungodly ways. They sing about Jesus, but they don’t do it in a reverent manner. They aren’t on the stage to give praise to our heavenly Father, but to cash in on fame and fortune, at your expense.
Those who are walking with Christ will discern the works of the Spirit. Don’t just listen to Christian music because it sounds good, but because it is good. If the music doesn’t sound like Jesus, it’s not there to honor God, but to exalt the people who created it.
It’s not about entertainment, but worship. True Christian musicians will give up the spotlight for Jesus. If they aren’t standing in the shadow of His presence, they aren’t allowing His righteousness to take precedence over their work. Don’t be fooled by cunning sounds.
