A Spirit Filled Heart

An Empty Tomb

There is no doubt that just as every Christian has spent some time on their knees in repentance before God, each one of us has also had encounters with someone who wanted us to remain in that state being, feeling guilty, hopeless and wretched. Of course, the culprit behind this malicious plot is Satan; he’s the one who wants us to keep feeling guilty in this way because he wants us to lose hope in Christ.  That is, he wants us to think that we are too sinful to be loved by God.

And sometimes it’s hard to discern the darkness of his presence, as he has many faces and can even appear as an angel of light. It is for this reason that we must constantly remind ourselves that Jesus doesn’t measure the worth of our lives in the same way that the ungodly do. For, He doesn’t see a hopeless case when He looks into our sorrowful eyes; rather, He sees a mission field of opportunity; He sees what He loves and died for.

But do you see what He sees in you?

Beloved, don’t let it weigh heavy on your heart when Satan tries to throw the sins of your past in your face. And don’t be surprised if he influences someone who is close to you to carry out this baneful work.  It is to be expected that this will happen because it is according to the nature of the Accuser to divide and conquer and thus attempt to destroy all hope in Jesus Christ by influencing ungodly people to cause others to feel less valued in God’s eyes. Of course, this is why everything must be put to the test: all things must agree with the Word of God. For, the grass withers and the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever; God cannot lie. (Isaiah 40:8; Titus 1:2)

With that being said, if you have repented of your sins and have turned your heart to Jesus Christ, then you have nothing to be ashamed of, because you were washed and sanctified; you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God. (1 Corinthians 6:11)

Therefore, don’t be troubled by the empty words of the Accuser.  Instead, listen to Jesus, who said,

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:1-3 NKJV)

Do you believe these words? You should believe them because the Tomb is empty and Jesus has arisen from the grave; death no longer has a hold on Him. And because the Tomb is empty you can be confident in knowing that Jesus has prepared a place in heaven for those who love Him and will come again to claim what belongs to Him. So don’t live in the guilt of the past or give in to the lusts of the present; rather, stand up and pledge your allegiance to Jesus Christ and claim the rights to the gift that He has freely given you.  Hold onto the promises of God!

Here are two promises that you can claim right now:

Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:6-11 NKJV)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28 KJV)

So the next time the Accuser comes knocking on your door to remind you of your past failures, remind him that the Tomb is empty and that he can’t silence the Word of God. And then command him in the name of Jesus Christ to depart from you and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Live not in the guilt of the past, but abide in Jesus Christ and claim the eternal reward! For “if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36 NKJV)
