In His Name

Until now, you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (John 16:24)

Asking in the name of Jesus doesn’t mean you are going to get whatever you want; rather, it’s an expression of desiring to settle for nothing less than what God wants to give you. If you open your hands to God, then you can expect to receive good things; but if you pull your hand away in order to reach for the world, then don’t expect to receive what He wants to give you.

People often wonder why, when after praying to God, they continue to feel empty and incomplete. It’s not that God doesn’t care about them, but that they aren’t asking Him for the right things. When you can say, “Not my will, but Your will be done,” and be completely content with that, you will receive exactly what you need to fill that void in your life with godly joy.
