By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. (John 13:35 NKJV)
I had an interesting dream last night. Someone was down and out and seeking to better his life; and a friend who did not have much, gave from the little he had to satisfy his need. It turned out that the man’s life improved dramatically over the years, as he became very successful. One day, he encountered the friend who helped him, remembering his act of kindness; he gave back generously, showing gratitude for the help he had received when he was needy.
You may not have much from which to draw to help others, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give from the little you do have. Moreover, though you may also be needy, that doesn’t mean you have an excuse to live a self-centered life. Be thankful for what you have, even though it may be little, and you will surely see that gratitude can go a long way!
Instead of making excuses not to give, look for opportunities to share what you have. Remember, you aren’t here to advance your own interests, but to glorify God. And there is no better way to do that than to share His love.
